BLOG > You Helped me Raise over $6,000 to Support The Open Hardware Summit! Do You Want to Attend, too?

Wow!!! This past month I pledged to donate all my book royalties to support the Open Hardware Summit‘s Ada Lovelace Fellowship. Well, the results are in, and this might have been my best month of sales to date. Thank You! With your help, I’ll be donating $3208.47 to help send deserving female students to the open hardware summit. And, thanks to my employer’s (Google’s) gift matching for non-profits, the total donation will double to over $6000.

But wait, there’s more! My sponsorship entitles me to four reserved seats at this year’s summit. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend in person this year, so I need to give these tickets away to deserving folks (note, this is just the ticket, not travel or any other expenses). Want to win a ticket to sit in the reserved Blum Idea Labs seats at this year’s summit? Just do the following:

  1. Take a picture of any one of the following: You with a copy of “Exploring Arduino“, You watching one of my videos on YouTube, your coolest project that utilizes open source hardware (Arduino projects, Beaglebone projects, etc.), a picture of you with me at any event (Makerfaire, previous Open Hardware Summits), or a photo of you at a previous Open Hardware Summit.
  2. Post that photo on twitter to @sciguy14 and use the hashtag #IMakeOpenHardware
  3. Make sure you are following me on twitter (@sciguy14) so I can message you if you win.

Rules:
The contest will run just for this week (last day to enter will be Friday). Please only participate if you are 100% positive that you will be able to attend the summit (the summit is on September 19th in Philadelphia). Tickets are non-transferrable. At the end of the contest, I’ll randomly select four winners, and message them to confirm that they will be able to attend. In the event that I don’t manage to find four people, I will offer one or more winners the opportunity to bring a guest. Tickets will be left under your name at conference will-call. Your badge will probably say “Blum Idea Labs” under your name. In the event that extenuating circumstances out of my control prevent me from awarding tickets for some reason, then I reserve the right to do that.
