Interdisciplinary Sustainability Student Summit
Giving the Opening Remarks at the First Annual Interdisciplinary Sustainability Student Summit (ISSS)

What is ISSS, and Why Did I Organize it?

As a student sustainability leader at Cornell, I’ve come to realize that participating in student-led, hands-on initiatives, has been critical  to the learning experience for both me and the students who participate in the projects I direct.  Not only has it given us the chance to address growing environmental issues, but it has given us a unique opportunity to work with people from dozens of different backgrounds with many different viewpoints.  My co-chairs and I created ISSS as an opportunity for leaders in both collegiate and professional sustainability roles, with vastly differing but relevant experiences, to come together to collaborate towards a more sustainable future.  The event hosted about a hundred entrepreneurs, students, educators, and professionals for a day of insightful discussion and collaboration.
