BLOG > I’m Travelling Across the Country. On a Bus!

Cornell University Sustainable Design (CUSD) and the US Green Building Council (USGBC) have partnered up to organize a cross-country bus tour!  The tour started at Cornell University and will end at the International GreenBuild Conference and Expo in San Francisco, California.  Along the way, we are hosting workshops with 6 other schools for K-12 students.  A few months ago, fellow CUSD leaders and I met with Rick Fedrizzi, the CEO and founder of the USGBC.  Since that meeting, we’ve spent hundreds of hours planning this first-of-it’s-kind bus tour to promote sustainability across the United States.

Today, the bus tour launched, and we started our trip strong with a series of workshops for high school students from Lansing, NY (near the Cornell campus).  Tomorrow, we’ll be picking up students from Penn State, then heading west. Check out this video of today’s kick-off events!

This is going to be one hell of a trip.  If you want to keep up with what we’re doing, be sure to keep your eye on the official bus tour website!  That page will be constantly updated with new photos and videos from the trip.  For instantaneous updates, be sure to follow me, CUSD, USGBC, and the Center for Green Schools on twitter.  I’ll also be posting some fun footage and details to the CUSD blog and facebook pages, so check those out too!

You can already check out an article about the bus tour in the Cornell Chronicle.  I’ve also setup a timelapse photography rig on our bus so I can generate a complete video of our drive across the US.  Check out the first leg of the journey!

  1. Jeremy, it’s fascinating to see the endless outpouring of energy and enthusiasm that comes from you. I admire your ability to share and generate enthusiasm. Well done. .. .

You do a great job of portraying STEM as exciting and fun – young minds respond to genuine enthusiasm, and many eyes will be opened to opportunity that might otherwise not have done so.

    1. Thanks Paul! I feel very fortunate that I have the opportunities that I do, and I’m glad that I’m able to share what I’ve learned with those who really care about it.

  2. Glad to have you teaching the importance of renewables. I see the future of renewable energy not on the megawatt scale, but engineered for the homeowner. Regional power companies have their place in urban America. However, suburban and rural populations can cut their umbilical cord with today’s technology!

  3. Mr. Jeremy may you teach me or give me tutorial PHP + Arduino + Android,
